Know About Marijuana Clubs
Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010Ever heard of a plant, Cannabis sativa? If you have, then you would also know that its flowers, leaves and seeds, when harvested are called pot, weed, grass or marijuana. Yes, marijuana has its origins in a plant that has the pretty name – Cannabis sativa. The plant was originally found only in the Eastern hemisphere in what is today, China. It was even known as a miracle plant back then, because of its multifarious uses. In 6000 BCE the plant was used for fiber, food, oil, medicine and pleasure. And it was in 1492 AD that Christopher Columbus introduced the new world to the many wonders of Cannabis sativa. For several centuries thereafter, right up until the early part of the 20th century, marijuana was considered safe and enjoyed by millions of Americans. It helped them relax, unwind and feel rejuvenated. It was also used to treat cancer, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis and chronic pain. But then some studies began to show that marijuana, which contains a reasonable amount of psychoactive compounds in its chemical make-up, was adversely affecting the central nervous system of the human body.

Therefore by 1937, it was branded as harmful, and several laws were imposed banning its usage. Many Americans found themselves at the receiving end of these newly enforced restrictions and the American government found that millions of dollars were being spent on keeping those laws in place. Now, although those studies carried a lot of weight, the tangible benefits of marijuana could never quite be discounted either. As a result of which, by the early 1970′s Marijuana Clubs started being formed. These clubs advocated the positives of marijuana and slowly some states started decriminalizing the use of marijuana, Oregon being the first such state. Many other states followed suit thereafter. That is why today, in the year 2010, the delectable flavor of marijuana can be found in cookies, caramels, candies and bread. The antioxidant and neuroprotectant properties of marijuana simply cannot be ignored. The time has come to say, ‘yes to marijuana’ if offered in moderation; let us all give it our acquiescence!
